Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
An 18-year-old girl, Firoza Parvin, died on Saturday afternoon after falling from the second-floor balcony of her home in Mitra Lane, Jorasanko. The incident took place around 3 PM, when Firoza was reportedly alone at home as her family members attended a wedding. Emergency services were contacted immediately after the fall, and Firoza was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead shortly upon arrival.
Firoza’s family has reported that she had an ongoing dispute with her neighbor, Tarannum Ara, which resurfaced on the day of the incident. According to the family’s account, an argument between the two escalated, leading to a physical confrontation. Following this, Firoza fell from the balcony. The family has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Firoza was pushed.
The Jorasanko Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Authorities are speaking to witnesses and gathering additional evidence, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area, if available. The police have detained Tarannum Ara for questioning, though no formal charges have been made as of now. The investigation is ongoing.
